Wow, what a day! Yesterday’s Art Exhibition saw the culmination of a lot of hard work by all of the staff and children to bring the exhibition to such fantastic and successful fruition. The display was a celebration of the children’s artwork, which had been created during their normal lessons. Glory Farm Primary School is in the process of working towards an Artsmark award and this exhibition clearly shows how hard everyone has been working to raise the profile of arts throughout the school.
The incredible artwork was beautifully presented, gallery style, with each year group having its own section framed and mounted for display. In addition to the wonderful range of art, the school choir, who have only been singing together since October, fabulously sang a collection of songs as parents arrived. Visitors commented widely upon the friendly, celebratory atmosphere of the event and the quality and diversity of the artwork on display. Children excitedly rushed to their displayed pieces, asking parents to photograph them next to their framed artwork. One parent commented, ‘This is fantastic. I love my son’s picture and well done to everyone’. Another commented upon, ‘the amount of work put into displaying the artwork so carefully as if it were a high end gallery’.
So far just over £700 has been raised which is incredible and there are still some parents who want to buy their child’s artwork tomorrow! The money raised will go towards an arts based activity.
During the exhibition, people were asked to vote for their three favourite artworks. The votes are being counted and the winning three will receive a prize next week.
