Glory Farm School Council’s Bake off competition

Yesterday was a very exciting day in regards to the School Council’s bake off competition. We were truly touched and overwhelmed with all the bakes which kept making their way to my classroom until break time – it was very hard to resist the temptation!

We would like to say an enormous thank you to parents and carers who supported and encouraged their children with their Easter bakes. We were truly blown away with all of the children’s entries. It was clear that they had put in a lot of time, thought and effort into their creative and imaginative bakes. We would also like to say a huge thank you to all the children and adults who supported the bake sale after school, by either buying (queuing!!), or helping to sell the amazing goodies which had been baked for the competition. All children appeared to really enjoy the bake sale – especially when they were able to eat the cakes which they had purchased! It was a huge success, raising over £230 for School Council to purchase some benches to go onto our playgrounds.
The bakes were judged anonymously during lunch time by a panel of both teachers and School Council reps. They found it very hard to decide on winners, but after numerous debates the following was decided (winners were announced in gathering today):

Roald Dahl golden ticket winner – Chloe Carlaw (Year 2)
Foundation stage runner up – Charlie Joiner
Year One runner up – Isobelle Walters – Pitcher
Year Two runner up – Dale Collier
Year Three runner up – Ollie Stimson
Year Four runner up – Ashley Sturgess
Year Five runner up – Aiden Evans
Year Six runner up – Hope Matheson

Congratulations to all of our bake off winners!

Winning Entry:Bakeoff newsletter March 18

Please try not to be too disheartened if you didn’t win – the process involved a lot of tricky decision making as we had lots of inspirational entries! All of you contributed to the bake off having a true whole school community feel – without your generous support the competition and sale would not have been possible.

We are extremely proud of the success of this event and all we can say is – watch out Mary Berry!

We hope you all enjoyed your cakes and wish you a very relaxing Easter break!
